Portable

CableMaster portable and industrial cords are employed for temporary power in a range of commercial, industrial and residential applications such as outdoor power equipment, power tools, OEM machinery, power extensions, and home appliances, and used in a range of facilities such as construction sites, mills, mines, sports complexes, and marinas.

portable-and-industrial-cords.pngA portable cord is a cable with multiple conductors used for functions requiring both flexibility and power. Portable cords work well on job sites where resistance to oil, chemicals and abrasion is vital and also perform well in extreme environments - both the heat and the cold, outside or inside. Additionally, some portable cords can be water-resistant or water submersible.

Although the construction of a portable cord varies depending on the type, a standard cord has at least two stranded copper conductors. The copper stranding, insulation and jacket directly influence the physical properties of the cord.

A variety of portable cords, differing in styles, lengths and thicknesses, exist in the marketplace. Common types include Type SJT, SVT, SEOW, SJ, SJOW, SO and SOW.

CableMaster can quickly provide custom manufactured portable and industrial cords designed to meet the most demanding design specifications and applications.

Portable Cord products provide temporary power to the work site. In some instances the work site may be indoors where there are no major environmental concerns such as water, chemicals, oils, etc. Other times the work site may be a chemical processing plant where chemicals, oils, forklifts, heat and other elements may come into contact with the cord or cable. For these reasons several types of portable cord and cable have been developed.

Rubber cord products provide longer life in demanding applications. Thermoplastic (PVC) cord products are typically used in less harsh indoor environments in applications such as appliances, sensors, switches, lighting and sound equipment.

Industrial Cord

Industrial cords are no longer used only in coal mines and in industrial plants. Other typical applications include providing temporary power to job sites, as well as flexible power leads for installation in conduit. It can also be found in use in the entertainment industry providing portable power to stage lighting equipment.

Welding cable is designed for low voltage and high amperage use, as well as flexible 600 volt power leads where extreme flexibility, tight bending or flexing may occur.
